Saturday 19th November saw Woking RFC take on Old Suttonians RFC at home in what could prove to be a big step towards winning the league and achieving promotion.
Woking started of slow conceding an early try, with a response straight away from Seb Murphy. Old Suttonians started strongly right from the off, using their discipline and organisation at the break down to pin Woking on the back foot.
Their second try came from quick hands through the back line breaking the defensive line.
Some glimmers of hope came from Steve Rhodes and Dan Hills making breaking runs through the middle, unfortunately losing out in the break down as Woking
struggled to retain the ball.
The second half started well winning the ball in the air, but was soon to change as Woking were confined to there own half for the majority of the game . As Woking were looking for the fighting spirit, one man stepped up making a defence spliting run Steve Rhodes gets over the line, with a nice conversion by Justin Dougherty.
Old Suttoinians made it hard for Woking in the break down and were hungry to win the ball back at every opportunity, Woking's third try came from some excellent crash ball play with attacking pressure from Woking proving too much for Old Suttonians with try coming from Lee Abi Hydar, being forced from behind by David Garvey.
Unfortunately for Woking the Ref saw an off the ball incident which saw a Woking red card leaving them with 14 men on the field. Despite the deficit in players, the last 10 minutes proved to be Woking's strongest play of the game. Unfortunately, in typical Woking fashion, it was just too little, too late.
Head coach Pete D'Cruz commented: "Today's result is very tough to take. After the setback at Horley, i expected the guys to hit back hard and rectify the mistakes of 2 weeks ago. We have two tough league games coming before Christmas and we need to take a good look at ourselves starting at training on Tuesday".
