My personal thanks to, all those that voted, to our outgoing Chairman Jon Hursthouse and not forgetting the very important and necessary work by all the committee members over the last 18 months.
As Chairman of Woking RFC the club is still very much a viable and credible rugby club just emerging from one of the most challenging periods, we have all had to face as a country in a generation. My sense is the club still has the spirit, the will and the means i.e., good club house facilities (well I’ve been in and seen worse), training facilities and financially viable with solid sponsorship. Above all else the club has survived similar existential challenges at least twice, in fact the club even flourished.
I think that was purely down to the commitment of the players then and now, focusing on what really matters, which was and still is playing rugby. Followed by several beers or more back at the bar with team mates, regaling how good we all were!
My plan in a nutshell is simple. To focus everyone on the importance of getting organised with player recruitment, coaching and training to re-establish a stable 1st and 2nd XV in the up-and-coming 2021/22 season. It won’t be easy, the good things in life are never obtained easily but I’m clear about one thing our success is well with in our reach if we all back each other and do our bit.
