On the appointment Chairman Andy Jones says, "I'm delighted to share some positive news with the announcement of Mark Rose as Woking RFC Head Coach. He will be taking over from myself with immediate effect so that I can focus on my role as Chairman and ensure Mark has all the support and resources to prepare for the new season. I'm personally excited at the prospect of having a full-time coach with the level of skill and competency he brings to the club on the training field as well as match days.”
I'm sure you'll all join me in welcoming him into this critical role. The unquestionable experience he has as a teacher and qualified RFU coach will give a huge boost to the morale of the current squad and help attract the new players we need to ensure the future of the club."
On his appointment Rose said, "Having played for Woking for several years I have been through the ups and downs with various teams. I have made some brilliant, and slightly mad, friends through the club! My aim is to help the club move forward on the pitch and build on the improved performances of last season.”
Rose adds, “I am really pleased to be given the opportunity to give something back with the chance to coach the lads at Woking RFC. My aim is to provide good quality, enjoyable training sessions every week to support players of all abilities and help the club thrive."
Skipper Jacob Woods is also looking forward to teaming up with his new coach saying," I can't wait to start working with Mark when pre-season starts at the end of June. I know he will bring a good mix of coaching experience and passion which will hopefully translate into positive results and exciting performances on the pitch when the new season kicks off."
Woking start their pre-season preparations on Wednesday 28th June, 7pm at Byfleet Rec. Players of all abilities and experience are welcome but must be at least 18 years old.
